James Cameron's Avatar and Avatar: The Last Airbender may have more than just a name in common, as the sequel to The Way of Water will reportedly feature a nation of fire Na'vi that upset the balance of the universe. In an interview with French outlet 20 Minutes, Cameron revealed that Avatar 3 will feature a darker take on the Na'vi called the "Ash People."
He explained that these films will showcase "cultures different from those I have already shown" and that the fire will be represented by the Ash People. He added that he wants to reveal the Na'vi from a different angle, as so far he has only shown their good sides.
In the earlier films, there are very negative human examples and very positive Na'vi examples, but in Avatar 3, this will be reversed. In addition, the film will explore new universes while continuing the story of the main characters.
"In the early films, there are very negative human examples and very positive Na'vi examples. In Avatar 3, we'll do the reverse. We will also explore new universes while continuing the story of the main characters.
"I can say that the last parts will be the best. The others were an introduction, a way to set the table before serving the meal. But, obviously, everything will depend on how Avatar 2 will be received, if it will find its audience." said Cameron.
