In Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, audiences can expect to see some new characters, but with a twist. Some of these characters will be portrayed by familiar faces, such as David Dastmalchian. Dastmalchian, who played Kurt in the previous Ant-Man films, will take on a new character in this installment. The introduction of new characters portrayed by familiar actors is sure to add an exciting element to the film and keep audiences guessing.
The film will once again take audiences into the Quantum Realm, a mysterious and uncharted area that was first introduced in the first Ant-Man film. Scott Lang, played by Paul Rudd, will be returning as the lead character, having established himself as a key player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe following his role in Avengers: Endgame. With the events of Endgame behind him, Scott must now navigate the challenges of being reunited with his daughter, Cassie, after five long years apart. This family dynamic adds an emotional layer to the film as Scott attempts to make up for lost time and be a present father.
However, Scott's struggles are not limited to his personal life, as he must also contend with a powerful new villain, Kang, portrayed by Jonathan Banks. Kang is said to be even more formidable than Thanos, the villain from Avengers: Endgame, adding an exciting new challenge for Scott and his allies to face.
The inclusion of new characters and the return to the Quantum Realm, along with an emotional family story and a powerful new villain make "Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania" a must-watch for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and action-adventure movie in general.
David Dastmalchian will not reprise his role as Kurt, the Russian ex-con, in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Instead, he will play a new character known as "Veb". Dastmalchian joins a select group of actors who have portrayed multiple roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), among them, are: Gemma Chan who played Minn-Erva in Captain Marvel and Sersi in Eternals, Mahershala Ali who played Cottonmouth in Luke Cage and Blade in the film of the same name, Alfre Woodard, who had a small role as a grieving mother in Captain America: Civil War and Mariah Stokes in Luke Cage.
David Dastmalchian has been making a name for himself as a versatile character actor, recently impressing audiences with his portrayal of Polka-Dot Man in The Suicide Squad, transforming the comic's Z-list character into a fan favourite. He also left a lasting impression on audiences with his portrayal of Kurt in the previous Ant-Man films, particularly his memorable conflation of Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) with the Baba Yaga which became a popular meme among MCU fans.
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is set to be a departure from the previous films in the series. Scott's team, which included Kurt in previous films, may not be present or will have a limited presence at least, beyond his close friend Luis (Michael Peña). This new instalment promises to be a thrilling adventure for the Ant-Man family as they embark on their greatest challenge yet and have to leave behind what they were once familiar with.
