The National Board of Review, a non-disclosed group of cinema aficionados, directors, professionals, scholars, and students, has published its "Best of" selection for the year, giving Top Gun: Maverick Best Picture of 2022. As if Tom Cruise's feature film didn't already have a lot of hype and Oscar buzz due to its overwhelming critical acclaim and box office records, it now seems even more certain to receive numerous nominations at The Academy Awards.

"Top Gun: Maverick is a spectacular crowd-pleaser that is beautifully created on every level," remarked Annie Schulhof, President of the National Basketball Association. "Tom Cruise, Joseph Kosinski, and the whole filmmaking crew have succeeded in creating an enormously successful picture that has lured people back to cinemas while also being a full-fledged cinematic accomplishment."
Top Gun: Maverick may have been named Finest Picture, but it is just one of 10 films chosen as the best of the year. Avatar: The Way of Water, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and Everything Everywhere at Once were all in the Top 10.
