McDonald's Toy reveals an unannounced character from the leaked Super Mario movie

The Super Mario Bros. Movie isn't due out until next year, but it seems that a McDonald's marketing has leaked ahead of schedule! Twitter user @Kikaim uploaded photographs of eight toys that would reportedly be available in Japanese Happy Meals later this month. As @Kikaim points out, it looks like they were intended to be released with the film, which was originally scheduled to be released this month before being pushed back to April 7th. While the advertising will mostly focus on the major characters, it will also feature someone who has yet to be disclosed for the film!

Two incarnations of Mario, as well as Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, Donkey Kong, and Bowser, will be included in the campaign. Aside from the seven toys, there is an eighth that looks to be a Luma. Readers may form their own opinions by seeing the Tweet attached below.

The Lumas were originally featured in Super Mario Galaxy in 2007. Since then, the characters have made many appearances, often accompanying Rosalina. The Lumas most recently appeared in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, when they were joined by Rabbids to become the all-new Sparks. If this is a Luma, it will be fascinating to see how the characters are interwoven into the plot and whether or not Rosalina will appear. This is the second character to be unveiled for the film since a poster that emerged online before to the release of the second trailer revealed Pauline's look.

It's unknown if this campaign will also show at McDonald's outlets in the United States, or whether the timing would better align with the film's real release date. Surprisingly, the United States already had a Mario promotion this year, when the fast food company brought back a Mario Kart 8-themed line. For the time being, Nintendo fans will have to wait patiently to find out more!
