John Wick Creator Bringing Sifu to the Big Screen

Derek Kolstad, the creator of John Wick, is working on yet another gaming adaptation. Following the announcement that he would write and produce a Streets of Rage film, it has been revealed that Kolstad will do the same for a live-action Sifu film.

According to Deadline, Kolstad and his colleagues at media business Story Kitchen have partnered with Sifu developer and publisher Sloclap. When it was published in February, the beat-'em-up sold a million copies in three weeks, despite Elden Ring and Horizon Forbidden West debuting around the same time. What distinguishes Sifu from the contract is that when the protagonist dies in their pursuit of revenge, they get older while their foes remain the same age.

That hook alone opens up a plethora of exciting options for a scriptwriter. Given his experience with the John Wick series and Nobody, the one versus. many components of Sifu are perfectly up Kolstad's alley as well. As if that weren't enough, Kolstad is also the creator of Netflix's Splinter Cell, a forthcoming animated series based on Ubisoft games.
