Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Unveils MCU M.O.D.O.K.'s First Official Look

In Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing (or M.O.D.O.K.) makes its MCU debut, opening off Phase 5 with a super-sized quest into the subatomic Quantum Realm. Until Marvel Studios' Quantumania premieres in theatres on February 17th, size-shrinking superhero teammates Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) won't face up against M.O.D.O.K., but new memorabilia from Funko has revealed M.O.D.O.K. as he appears in the Ant-Man threequel. Another murderous machine, the time lord Kang the Conqueror, may be seen in full-body detail in the Quantumania range of Funko Pop figurines (Jonathan Majors).

Anthony Francisco, a former senior visual development artist at Marvel Studios who created the MCU M.O.D.O.K., previously told Looper that Quantumania "is going to be more epic than a conventional Ant-Man movie is going to be." "He was one of my favourite characters to sketch when I was kid, and seeing him battle [the] Incredible Hulk was so much fun. I drew it using that as my subject. They trusted that I would accurately portray the character as it appeared in the comic book. The takes I had of [producer] Kevin Feige were well received, and I can't wait to show them."

In the comic books, M.O.D.O.K. was A.I.M. technician and agent George Tarleton, who was changed into the living computer formerly known as M.O.D.O.C. (Mental Organism Designed Only for Computing) by the researchers of Advanced Idea Mechanics. Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, and the Avengers have fought against the cognitively superior mutant with an expanded head from his floating Doomsday Chair and stopped M.O.D.O.K.'s repeated efforts at world dominance.

He has sometimes collaborated with other wicked geniuses such as the Leader, Doctor Doom, and the Mad Thinker as a member of the Intelligencia, a super-intelligent gang of villains.

Although the identity of the live-action M.O.D.O.K. in Quantumania remains a secret, previous rumours contend that the face hidden behind the gold-plated mask is one that will be recognisable to Ant-Man franchise followers.

The 2023 movie Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania by Marvel Studios, starring Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kathryn Newton, and Jonathan Major, will be released on February 17th.
