Hera Pheri is one of Hindi cinema's most popular series. The three characters of Raju, Shyam, and Baburao have become associated with the Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal trio. Hera Pheri 3 has been in the headlines for a variety of reasons in the previous two months, most notably the casting of the comedy caper. Following Akshay Kumar's departure, it was announced that Kartik Aaryan would take over the beloved franchise. At a public gathering, the Khiladi announced that he would no longer be conducting Hera Pheri 3. Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal later confirmed Kartik Aaryan's participation in the project. The news sparked outrage on social media, with fans of the series and moviegoers launching a hashtag campaign, #NoAkshayNoHeraPheri, to convey their displeasure with the prospect of Hera Pheri without Akshay Kumar. Firoz Nadiadwala and the new Hera Pheri group met with many filmmakers, including Anees Bazmee and Raaj Shandilyaa, but nothing came together on the writing front.
Reports suggest that Firoz Nadiadwala has restarted talks with Akshay Kumar about reprising his role as Raju in the Hera Pheri franchise. "While everything seemed to be in place for the casting of Hera Pheri 3 with Kartik Aaryan, the tides are suddenly turning.
"Firoz has met with Akshay Kumar many times in the past 10 days to iron out the disagreements and return him to the beloved brand. He recognises how iconic the character is and also acknowledges that the credit for elevating the character to new heights goes to the way Akshay enacted the part," said a source close to the development, adding that Firoz has heard the general public's desire to see Hera Pheri 3 with the original trio.
